Bellydance with an experienced instructor is the best way to learn the artform.  DVDs and programs are an excellent start to get you going and are even encouraged at ABBA! for additional practice outside of class.    In order to gain the muscle control and proper execution, students should devote some time outside of class to practice of the movements.  Beginning Students at ABBA! are provided with handouts, a practice DVD of the instructor, and music with increasing tempos to practice movements.  It is usually best for students to keep all their materials in a three ring binder for quick reference.

Beginning Classes

A Beginning Class is designed to introduce the isolations and foundational movements of Bellydance. Strong well constructed foundational movement is needed to advance to layering of movement and choreography.  In addition students will also learn basic veil movements and simple zill patterns.  We also learn the common Middle Eastern rhythm patterns,  By the time you are ready to move forward to intermediate you will even have a choreographed dance or two under your hip belt.

Intermediate Classes

This level will challenge the student with the layering of movement, drills for dance transitions, traveling with movement, and more advanced choreography.  Students from the intermediate classes may be invited to join the performance level classes.
